New York songwriter, singer, guitarist Natalia Zukerman to make live album in Chicago.
On any given night, you'll find Natalia Zukerman in her element - in a live music venue, suiting and stringing up to play in any number of musical incarnations. In addition to performing her own shows of original music, over the last two years, you may have caught Zukerman playing lap steel, bass and/or guitar alongside Janis Ian, Susan Werner or Willy Porter, touring collaboratively with fellow artists Garrison Starr, Louise Taylor, Erin McKeown, Sam Baker and John Fullbright, with her art.is.song art and music project comrade Adrianne Gonzlez, with percussionist and vocalist Mona Tavakoli or with her annual holiday group Winterbloom (Antje Duvekot, Anne Heaton, Meg Hutchinson). Even on her recent tour in Japan, Natalia found inspiration in collaboration with guitarist and songwriter Scrappy Jud Newcomb.
"I've been thinking about how I could make a record of this time in my career. Usually as a songwriter, you have a collection of songs and thatís what drives the making of a record. But it occurred to me that as much as these songs have been at the center of what I am doing, their development has been so influenced and shaped by the folks that I collaborate with the most. I want to share these collaborations and make a record that is just as much a celebration of the friendships I have with these amazing people as a record of the songs."
And that is just what Zukerman is doing. On September 14, 2012 she will record and film a live show at Evanston SPACE that will include many of the artists and players who she has worked with separately - all together for one special night in one place.
